'Blow them away' - Davis Keillor-Dunn shares Sheffield Wednesday target ahead of Notts County trip

Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins when they head to Notts County on Tuesday night.

Sheffield Wednesday attacker Davis Keillor-Dunn has said that he and his teammates need to show the confidence of a team that is nine games unbeaten ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Following a run of three successive League One draws, Wednesday returned to winning ways in convincing fashion on Saturday, beating AFC Wimbledon 5-0 at Hillsborough. Keillor-Dunn was the star of the show, scoring twice and registering an assist, while Barry Bannan, Harry Gray and Callum Slattery also joined him on the scoresheet.

Although frustration had begun to grow among some sections of the fan base ahead of the weekend, the victory over Wimbledon moved the Owls back into the top six and within two points of the League One summit. They have lost just one of their opening nine League One matches this season, winning five, and are now nine games unbeaten across all competitions.

Having demonstrated the quality they are capable of producing at the weekend, Keillor-Dunn hopes Wednesday can build on their victory and performance against Wimbledon by securing another three points at Meadow Lane.

“Look, we'll be doing our research on Notts County, and we've just got to go into it with full expectations of going there and putting on a great performance like today [against Wimbledon],” said Keillor-Dunn.

“But they're a good side. Notts County did really, really well last year, and we've been doing little bits anyway, you know what I mean? I think it will be a tough test going there.

“But I think we've got to be really confident. We haven't lost in nine games, so you've got to think, why not go and do another one? You know, why not go one step on?”

Competing in League One for the first time since the 2014/15 season, Notts County have experienced a difficult start to the campaign following their promotion via the League Two play-off final last term. They have amassed just seven points from their opening nine matches, meaning they are currently 23rd in the table.

Although Wednesday cannot afford to underestimate Martin Paterson’s side, Keillor-Dunn has said that the Owls should approach the game with the aim of scoring another glut of goals.

“You see, in games, the fans always want more when we're trying to build and stuff,” added the Wrexham loanee, reflecting on the expectations that come with donning a Wednesday shirt. “That's the expectation, as simple as that.

“We want to go and score goals and blow teams away. So, with no disrespect to Notts County, we want to go there and blow them away.

“That's exactly what we'll be working to do. So, yes, the boys will rest, recover and do all the right things and be fully prepared for Notts.”
