Five days on from Henrik Pedersen’s departure, Sheffield Wednesday are still searching for his successor.
The Dane was relieved of his duties on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the Owls were beaten 2-0 by Doncaster Rovers at the Club Doncaster Sports Village. It marked Wednesday’s second defeat in five days and some supporters chanted ‘We want Henrik out’ both during and after the game.
Matt Hamshaw, who returned to Hillsborough during the summer, was installed as interim manager and oversaw Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Cambridge United. He is set to remain in charge for Sunday’s clash with Blackpool at Hillsborough.
As revealed by The Star on Friday, the process of appointing Pedersen’s successor is moving forward, with a number of interviews having taken place with club officials. An undisclosed number of candidates with experience both domestically and overseas are being considered.
Former Stockport County boss Dave Challinor is understood to be among the candidates, having quickly emerged as the overwhelming favourite to land the job after Pedersen’s departure was confirmed.
With the process ongoing, BetVictor have provided the latest odds on who they think could be in the running:

9. Stuart Maynard - 20/1
After guiding York City back into the Football League in May, Maynard left the club in July. The Minstermen said the decision had been made due to a "difference in direction and vision for the football club". 10. Gary Rowett - 33/1
Rowett is regularly linked with managerial vacancies in either the Championship or League One. The experienced EFL manager has been out of work since leaving Leicester City at the end of last season. 11. Rob Edwards - 33/1
One of the bookmakers’ favourites at the start of the week, former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Edwards is now considered one of the outsiders in the race to become Wednesday’s next manager. He turned down the opportunity to become Burnley’s new head coach just a few days ago, meaning he is very unlikely to drop down to League One. | Wolves via Getty Images

12. Matt Bloomfield - 33/1
Although he was unable to keep Oxford United in the Championship last season, Bloomfield was surprisingly sacked by the U’s in May after just 22 games in charge. He joined the club January following a brief spell at Luton Town, where he had overseen their relegation to League One the previous season. He is currently out of work. | Getty Images
