Five days on from Henrik Pedersen’s departure, Sheffield Wednesday are still searching for his successor.
The Dane was relieved of his duties on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the Owls were beaten 2-0 by Doncaster Rovers at the Club Doncaster Sports Village. It marked Wednesday’s second defeat in five days and some supporters chanted ‘We want Henrik out’ both during and after the game.
Matt Hamshaw, who returned to Hillsborough during the summer, was installed as interim manager and oversaw Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Cambridge United. He is set to remain in charge for Sunday’s clash with Blackpool at Hillsborough.
As revealed by The Star on Friday, the process of appointing Pedersen’s successor is moving forward, with a number of interviews having taken place with club officials. An undisclosed number of candidates with experience both domestically and overseas are being considered.
Former Stockport County boss Dave Challinor is understood to be among the candidates, having quickly emerged as the overwhelming favourite to land the job after Pedersen’s departure was confirmed.
With the process ongoing, BetVictor have provided the latest odds on who they think could be in the running:

5. Sean Dyche - 14/1
One of the more ambitious names to have been linked with the vacant Wednesday managerial position, Dyche has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest in February. Given that he has also been linked with the possibility of becoming Crystal Palace’s next manager over the last few days, the prospect of him arriving at Hillsborough appears somewhat unlikely. | Getty Images

6. Robbie Keane - 16/1
Out of work since leaving Hungarian club Ferencváros in May, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Keane has been linked with several managerial vacancies in England in recent months. 7. Steve Cooper - 16/1
Despite struggling to make his mark at Danish club Brøndby in his most recent role, Cooper still has plenty of admirers. He enjoyed considerable success at Nottingham Forest, guiding them back to the Premier League in 2022 after taking charge midway through the season. He also came close to leading Swansea City back to the top flight on two occasions. Although he is among the leading picks selected by the bookmakers, he is not expected to become Wednesday's next boss. | Getty Images

8. Darren Ferguson - 20/1
Ferguson Jnr has been out of work since leaving Peterborough United in October last year. Although he knows his way around League One, having taken charge of more than 450 games in the division, he is unlikely to be appointed as Wednesday’s next manager. | Getty Images
