Outgoing key Sheffield Wednesday figure reflects on 'incredibly rewarding' Owls career after landing new role
Sheffield Wednesday have said farewell to Under-18s boss Jordan Broadbent, who has left S6 to join non-league side Buxton.
Former Sheffield Wednesday Under-18s boss Jordan Broadbent has said it was a “genuine privilege” to play a role in the development of the club’s youngsters following his departure from Hillsborough.
Broadbent’s exit from the Owls was confirmed on Friday after he agreed to become manager at non-league outfit Buxton. He has signed a two-year deal with the National League North outfit.
Broadbent, who is a Wednesday supporter, played an important role in the development of several Owls youngsters who graduated to the first-team during the 2025/26 season amid the club’s shortage of senior players.
He developed a strong reputation throughout his time at Hillsborough, being recognised for the role he played in the development of Wednesday’s upcoming stars. Now, though, he will get the opportunity to test himself as a manager at senior level, a role which will see him coach former Owls youngsters Will Trueman and Connor Kirby, who are members of Buxton’s first-team squad.
Reflecting on his Wednesday departure, Broadbent posted on X (formerly Twitter): “What a journey......... This is a really emotional post for me because @swfc has always meant more than just a job.
"As a fan of the club, having the opportunity to work with and help develop some of the best young players in the academy has been a genuine privilege and something I'll always be proud of.
“I'd like to thank all the players, staff, and everyone connected with the football club, who have made my time here so enjoyable. Watching our young players grow, improve, and take steps towards their ambitions has been incredibly rewarding, and I've learned so much from everyone at this great football club.
“This club has been a huge part of my life since i was a little boy, and I'll continue to support it from afar and follow them closely. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey at Sheffield Wednesday. The memories, friendships, and experiences will stay with me forever.
“Now it's time for a new challenge, and I can't wait to get started."
