Sheffield Wednesday injuries for Huddersfield Town as fears eased on defender, but forward could be a doubt
Latest Owls injury news...
Di’Shon Bernard is available for selection for Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to Huddersfield Town this weekend.
The defender was absent from the midweek EFL Trophy win against Sunderland under-21s - a game he had been expected to feature as part of his recovery after 19 months out. Some fans feared he might have suffered a setback but Owls boss Henrik Pedersen gave a positive response when asked about him on Friday afternoon.
“He has trained really well after the last game (against Salford City),” he said. “He really needed some recovery days, but he has trained well and he is available for the squad tomorrow.”
Another player who did not play on Tuesday night was Davis Keillor-Dunn, who scored his first Wednesday goal in the previous group game at Salford. Pedersen revealed that the on-loan Wrexham forward has had an issue but nothing serious.
He said: “I think it (international break) had helped him a lot. He was really in a flow. And then he had some back pain, a few back problems. But again, he was out some days, and now he has started to train again.”
Meanwhile, The Owls are awaiting test results back on a potential groin niggle suffered by Ricardo Santos against Sunderland’s youths. It is hoped that fellow defender Sil Swinkels can step-up his training days next week. Ali Al-Hamadi pulled out of international duty with an ankle problem but Pedersen confirmed he has trained.
Although unavailable for this weekend, Wednesday are set to be boosted by the return of Max Lowe next week, who could be involved against AFC Wimbledon or Notts County, after a period out with a hamstring injury.
“We hope he can have a good week next week and then maybe he can be in the squad (next) Saturday or the following Tuesday,” Pedersen explained. “But his fitness is good and then we want to bring him back on the pitch to play football again with the other guys. He's looking so much forward to playing again and to train again. And we're looking forward to having that. So it's positive.”
