Sheffield Wednesday have got the quality now they need the fight for League One

Alan Biggs on the one Sheffield Wednesday "player" you simply cannot replace

Yes, there are positions where Sheffield Wednesday are a bit light - centre back (temporarily), for instance.

But there are plenty more where they are bright. As many as you could realistically wish for in a League One campaign.

So, while the current crop of injuries is regrettable, one factor supersedes any individual in bridging the gap. Henrik Pedersen calls it culture and he is right, despite a frustrating and undeniably disappointing performance in last weekend's 0-0 with Wigan.

That was standard stuff, even for a big club in League One. A reminder of future challenges to come when opponents drop deep and break fast.

But given the right unity and togetherness, you can see why Wednesday, even at this early stage, have what it takes to escape this league. Because the quality is unquestioned, even without the likes of Louie Barry (such a big blow after the way he started), plus Max Lowe and Sil Swinkels among others.

The midfield, though arguably a player short for cover, is as classy as it comes at this level - led by Barry Bannan, (still the best player in the section for me but yet to prove it) and supported by Callum Slattery, Billy Mitchell and Jaden Heskey.

There is experience and strength in the full back positions with Yan Valery and Reece James, allied to getting forward strongly.

But what was particularly vital in the window was adding that cutting edge, wide and up front where Ali Al-Hamadi, Davis Keillor-Dunn and Mason Burstow are all proven. An impact is awaited.

Barry is a big loss from the flanks, but Kieran Morrison looks a bit special there.

So I'd argue most of the right individuals are in place. What matters, as they settle, is the battling camaraderie that has delivered the Owls narrow wins on the road.

That is the one "player" you simply cannot replace.
