Photos of a rainy Middlewood Road session featured forward Mallik Wilks, who appears to have rejoined training with the bulk of the squad having come through what was described by Owls boss Darren Moore as an impact injury.

Wilks missed out on Wednesday’s win at Accrington Stanley over the weekend alongside George Byers and Liam Palmer.

And while Byers was an absentee from the photos released by Wednesday – which doesn’t necessarily mean he wasn’t involved, of course – in-form defender Palmer featured.

Scotland international Palmer had also missed out on the trip to the Wham Stadium with an ear infection.

“Wilks and Byers are both contact injuries,” Moore told the media after the Accrington clash. “It is whether they can put their body weight through it; they were too sore today. We will assess them this week.”

There was further positive news lurking in the photos in that Akin Famewo appears to have continued in his recovery from a serious injury and that goalkeeper Cameron Dawson has shown no over-hanging issues from his concussion issue, with both playing a part in the training session.

Moore had said late last week: “Akin [Famewo] is back in with the group. It's great to have him back and rubbing shoulders with his team mates. He will tidy up his work, conditioning and timing in the next couple of weeks.”

Another long-term absentee, Dennis Adeniran, is edging his way closer to a return to full training after knee surgery.
