Exclusive:Wrexham attacker heading for Sheffield Wednesday medical ahead of deadline

Sheffield Wednesday are in the advanced stages of bringing a new attacking option to the club, The Star understands.

Former Barnsley attacker Davis Keillor-Dunn is advancing fast on a dramatic deadline day move to Sheffield Wednesday as the Owls look to sneak a last-gasp deal through the door, The Star understands.

Sources suggest the 28-year-old number 10 is on his way to South Yorkshire for a medical and to put the final touches on a season-long loan deal from Championship side Wrexham. The Star first reported the Owls’ interest in Keillor-Dunn some weeks ago. Things are progressing nicely and barring any unexpected late hiccups a deal is expected to complete ahead of the 11pm deadline. A deal is not entirely complete but is believed to be heading in that direction as the two clubs look to complete.

Wednesday entered the final day of the transfer window with the expectation that confirmation of a deal to sign Jaden Heskey would be their final act of a manic window, though a ‘unique opportunity’ arose on deadline day to make a deal work. Keillor-Dunn, who spent two seasons in South Yorkshire with Barnsley ahead of his switch to Wales, is seen by the Owls as a versatile player who can operate across any of the front positions.

Completion of his addition would open-up further options to Henrik Pedersen in attack. The Owls are able to sign free agents beyond the transfer window closure should they see fit.

Wednesday’s last minute ‘unique opportunity’ comes after Sheffield United sold Calum O’Hare to Wrexham earlier today. It would bring the number of loan players in the Owls squad to six. Wednesday are currently in League One action at Wycombe Wanderers.
