Reece James is back in contention and could make his return to action for Sheffield Wednesday against Morecambe in the FA Cup.

The defender hasn’t featured for Wednesday since picking up an injury in the game against Plymouth Argyle, however it was said over the weekend that he was now ‘touch and go’ for his return after making a return to training last week.

Both James and Akin Famewo were shown in training this week following their respective injury layoffs, but – unlike the Blackpool loanee – Famewo isn’t quite ready to make his return just yet.

Speaking to the media today, Moore said, “Reece James has been back training with the group, so he’s back in and ready to be selected… Akin is still just finishing off his final bits and pieces with the sports scientists, it won’t be long until he’s back in unless we see any reactions. He’s being put through his paces at the moment, which is good to see.”

But it’s not looking good for Ben Heneghan, unfortunately, and after the Owls boss said recently that there was a possibility his season was over, he’s now all-but confirmed that that will be the case.

“He’s not had his surgery yet,” Moore explained. “We’ve got to let the injury settle down some more before he has the operation… On the basis of it, I think he’ll be finished for the season.”

Wednesday’s only other injury concern at this point is midfielder, Dennis Adeniran, who is expected back on the grass this month as he continues his road to recovery.
