The Star reported recently that there were plans to get the 21-year-old centre back out on loan in order to aid his development, and now it’s been announced that he will spent the next few weeks in the National League to do just that.

Agbontohoma, who came through the youth setups at both Arsenal and Southampton, will wear the number 26 at his new club, and could make his debut in the FA Cup on Saturday when they play host to Accrington Stanley.

The Wood’s gaffer, Luke Garrard, spoke of his delight at getting the young defender on board, telling their official website, “I’m really happy to have David on board. He is someone we have watched and identified as a good addition to the squad.

“He’s at a great age and possesses some real good attributes. He will go straight into the squad tomorrow and I look forward to working with him over his time with us.”

Agbontohoma is the latest Owls academy player to head out on loan this season, with the likes of Ciaran Brennan, Will Trueman and Jay Glover among the others who are currently getting senior game time away from S6.

The Wood are 13th in the National League at this point in time, and will be eager to see their newest recruit help them turnaround a tough run of form of late and assist in climbing up the table.
