McGuinness has become a vital part of the puzzle at Hillsborough since joining on loan from Cardiff City, making himself one of the first names on Moore’s teamsheet and going on to win the club’s Player of the Month award for both November and December.

It has since been reported, however, that the Bluebirds are looking to bring him back this month – and Moore says he’s delighted with how he’s done.

Speaking to the media, he said, “First and foremost we’ve got the game to conclude, then after that both clubs have arranged to have a chat… If he is to go back then of course it’s a blow, but for me we should be full of joy for what he’s brought to the club.

“He’s been tremendous, he does what it says on the tin, it ticks a box for our recruitment, but he’s improved as a player. His performances have just got stronger, but if he is to go back then he goes with our blessing. He’s been tremendous.”

Moore seems to be holding out a bit of hope that those talks will be fruitful, however, saying that there is still a chance of him sticking around.

“They can call him back,” he said. “But there’s still a possibility of him staying… If he was to stay then we’d welcome that with open arms.”

Wednesday take on the Newcastle United at 6pm on Saturday, a game which could now prove to be his last at the club.
