Now, with Monk having been very focused on the welfare of his own players – hence the decision not to face other clubs in friendly games – he has confirmed that they have now received protocols from the English Football League regarding how things are going to work for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.

Speaking to talkSPORT today, Monk said, “The protocols have pretty much come through this week, so for home games, basically you’re put into zones… A certain amount of people are allowed in certain zones, in terms of risk and that side of it, and in terms of players and what they can use and how we warm-up.

“That’s all in place now. And we’ve just had the away travel, and that’s going to be a little bit more tricky. For instance, if you’re travelling on a coach then you can only have a certain amount of players or people on a coach. It’s probably doubling up the coaches, whether it’s by train.

“Then there’s hotels and what you do with that, so we’re just going through that now this week in terms of what we can actually do for away travel - which is going to be a little bit more tricky.”

Six individuals testing positive from four Championship clubs were confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday evening, however The Star understands that SWFC were not one of those clubs.
