Blackburn boss answers Bailey Cadamarteri transfer question amid links with Sheffield Wednesday ace
Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri has been linked with a move away from Hillsborough in this transfer window.
Blackburn Rovers head coach Valérien Ismaël has refused to comment on recent speculation linking them with Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri.
Cadamarteri, 20, has been linked with a move away from Hillsborough over the last few days, with Wednesday understood to have received a mid-level six-figure sum from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian last week.
It was first reported by journalist Alan Nixon that Hibs had seen a £1million bid for the striker knocked back by Wednesday’s administrating team. However, The Star has reason to believe the offer was much lower.
Blackburn, too, have recently been linked with a swoop for the Owls striker, who has scored two goals in the Championship this season. Rovers are desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements this month after recently losing Andri Guðjohnsen for several weeks because of a hamstring injury.
Although Ismaël, who watched his side exit the FA Cup on Sunday, losing to Championship counterparts Hull City on penalties after an uneventful 0-0 draw, confirmed Cadamarteri is a player Rovers have looked at, he refused to be drawn into commenting any further on the ongoing speculation surrounding the Jamaican international’s future.
Ismaël coy on Cadmarteri links
"We know the player, but I don't want to comment any name for the market," said Ismaël, as quoted by the Lancashire Telegraph.
"I think we are working on some, not only in one direction. I would say something like that, when you want to get two strikers you have to make sure you are prepared for more (than one target).
"If someone says no then you have to make sure you have your plan B, C, D, but as I say we are prepared, we are working hard behind the scenes, and as I say if you can get one at least next week it will help us, but I think today we see clearly why we have to do something.
"We know it's about the profile of the player we need, the way we want to play, the intensity we want to put into the game, so it reduces the choice you get, but A, B, C, D, at least yes."
