The Star understands that the Owls are keen on the 22-year-old, however they face an uphill battle amid growing attention from elsewhere on the back of his exit from Goodison Park.

It’s thought that, while Adeniran is a player that Darren Moore is considering however, there is interest from both the Championship and other League One clubs, with the young midfield man likely to end up in the second tier following a number of good performances whilst on loan there with Wycombe Wanderers last season.

Moore and his recruitment team don’t have the easiest of tasks at present amid a transfer embargo and ongoing unpaid wages situation, however there are hopes that those problems could be rectified in the coming weeks as the Owls boss looks to rebuild a side that has lost a lot of players since the 2020/21 campaign came to an end.

There has been some good news on the contract front with The Star previously reporting that Charles Hagan and Josh Render have agreed new deals, with Josh Dawodu’s agent previously stating that he too would be sticking around at Hillsborough.

Wednesday’s players are back at Middlewood Road today as preseason testing begins ahead of their trip to Wales, but it remains to be seen whether there will be any new faces present as they return to work.
