Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield Town LIVE - It’s a crunch game at Hillsborough tonight

Last updated: Wednesday, 17 March, 2021, 22:17

  • Wednesday v Huddersfield in a relegation scrap tonight
  • Darren Moore is still looking for his first Owls win
  • Defeat would equal SWFC’s longest ever losing run of eight games

He had a block tackle, and had a sore adductor. We left him out as a precaution. Nothing too serious, and we’ll assess him tomorrow ahead of Saturday.

More from DM on Simpson

He looked ok, blew off some cobwebs... Somebody with his experience and knowhow. We’ll have a look at things over the next few days.

DM on Dunkley and Green

Chey has picked up a hamstring injury, so he’ll be out for a little while. He picked it up in training, so that’s a disappointment for us. He’s getting medical treatment and we’ll try and get him back as soon as possible.

We’re delighted to have Green back, when we’re trying to create and score he falls into that category. Hopefully we can get some more game time on the pitch.

I’ve not seen it, but speaking to the guys they’re saying it was a stonewall penalty... From my view in the technical area though, it looked like a penalty. I’ll get my own opinion once I’ve seen the replay.

We’re looking at ways and means that help can be administered... It’s got to boost the squad further and add a dimension to take us forward.

We’ve had a look, but nothing has been decided yet.

We’re trying to win games and go after teams... We’re trying to work it as best we can, and how we see fit. It looked like it had paid dividends tonight, and we got the goal, but it was a bizarre one to concede. That’s football.

We’re looking to try and get our more advanced players up the pitch. We’ll continue the work on the training ground.

DM on Hutch and going forward

We knew the size of the task when we came... The points are still there, and it’s about preparing for the next game now.

We’re not sure on him yet, but we’ll assess him in the morning. I’ll let the doctors see him and then get a prognosis.

The goal and second halves

It was an excellent pass, and I liked how Josh composed himself and finished well. We thought they’d throw caution to the wind and leave more spaces, but they got their goal in the end. It would’ve been easy to go under after the goal, but we stayed resolute.

The game is about 90 minutes, not 45. That’s something we have to work on. We have to stay concentrated and switched on. We need to keep doing our jobs to the last whistle.

I thought I saw more desire, and we’ll look at the positives and then put this game to bed.

First of all, we wanted all three points... I said to them if they’re not going to win, then at least don’t lose. I saw commitment. We got the goal, and after that it was about doing our jobs. The plan was working, then we failed to get the first connection and the ball ended in our net.

It was a bizarre way to concede. We were pretty solid really. We thought they were running out of ideas. Losing Sam at the time proved critical, because he’s a solid citizen and an organiser. We can build on the point.

Another Wednesday lead fizzles into a draw or defeat, this time it’s a point but it’s probably not going to be enough. Game over. 25 points dropped from winning positions now.

The losing streak is over, but Birmingham’s win means they’re now even further away from safety.
