‘Hutch’ had been playing for Pafos FC in Cyprus since leaving the Owls earlier this year, but rumours surfaced earlier this week that a shock return to Hillsborough could be on the cards for the tough-tackling midfield man.
Wednesday boss, Tony Pulis, wouldn’t be drawn into discussing his transfer targets with the media when asked about a link with the 31-year-old, but the rumour mill will keep on turning after the latest news of his exit from his Cypriot side.

“Hutchinson, 31, joined Pafos in September. The midfielder has had vast experience in the Premier League and Championship with Chelsea FC, Nottingham Forest FC and Sheffield Wednesday FC. He completed 5 league matches and two Cyprus Cup fixtures for Pafos.
“We would like to thank Sam for his time with us and wish him good luck in his further career!”
Hutchinson played dover 150 games for the Owls during his lengthy spell at Hillsborough, becoming a strong fan favourite amongst Wednesdayites for his tough approach to the game and never-say-die attitude.
