The duo joined Wednesday on the last deadline day as they were brought in to help Garry Monk’s Owls at both ends of the pitch, both were hit with injury problems early into their time at Hillsborough and ended up returning to Derby County and Cardiff City respectively.

With Marriott, it was originally reported that the Rams had a recall clause in the loan deal that could see them bring him back to Pride Park, while it remains to be seen how far from a return to action Flint is.

When asked for the latest on the duo in today’s Christmas Eve press conference, Pulis said, “I haven’t met Jack, he’s not been here since I’ve been here, so it’s another one that I’ll have to speak to the club about. It’s interesting that you’ve brought it up, because I think Flinty is in a similar position. We’ll have to sit down and discuss those two.”

Meanwhile, the manager of his mother club, Wayne Rooney, told the media, "Jack is making great progress, he is back out on the grass… The next step over the next week is to build his fitness up and get him ready to either join in with the team or the option to go back to Sheffield Wednesday.

"There will be a decision made on that very soon."

The Owls face Blackburn Rovers this weekend as they seek to build on their 1-0 win over Coventry City.
