According to Gloucestershire Live, the Owls are one of several clubs keen on signing the 22-year-old former Derby County man on loan for the upcoming season, with both Bristol Rovers and Doncaster Rovers also said to be keen on him.

But while Wednesday are said to be interested, it was stated that ‘the Memorial Stadium remains his most likely destination this summer’ as Joey Barton looks to add to his squad for 2021/22, with Thomas potentially heading for League Two.

It remains to be seen how serious the Owls’ interest in the attacker may be at this stage, however it is known that Darren Moore is working hard behind the scenes to try and bolster his ranks as the start of preseason draws ever closer.

Thomas hasn’t played since February when a loan spell with Ipswich Town was cut short, and it’s being reported that he is ‘believed to be keen to be in close proximity to his family in Gloucestershire’, a factor that may well have forced the Owls down the pecking order if they were to try and make a move for him.

The transfer window is still open for some time as Moore looks to rebuild his Wednesday side on the back of a number of exits, and he’ll be hoping to try and get a few through the door in the next couple of weeks as preparation for the new season get underway at Middlewood Road.
