A second goal in as many games from George Byers gave the Owls a 1-0 lead at the break before substitute Sylla Sow doubled their advantage in the final 10 minutes to help them secure their first away win in five – and third win on the bounce for the first time since August.
Darren Moore’s side are now within just three points of the top six.
Here are our player ratings after a solid afternoon’s work in Staffordshire.

9. Massimo Luongo - 7
A great shift breaking up play, mopping up and finding team-mates with one or two moments of intricate play on a tight and tricky surface. Deservedly booked for his only mistimed tackle of the afternoon. Photo: Steve Ellis

10. Barry Bannan - 7
Still managed to strut his stuff on an awful playing surface and produced some nice tricks and flicks to find team-mates from tight areas. Grabbed the assist for the second goal when he fired the ball in low towards goal. Photo: Steve Ellis

11. Callum Paterson - 6
A quiet afternoon where few chances fell his way. Could have made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time, but was unable to react quickly enough when Storey's effort from a corner was fumbled by the Burton keeper. Photo: Steve Ellis

12. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing - 8
A thorn in Burton's side all afternoon and possibly Wednesday's best player. Always quick to close down and caused the home side constant problems with his pace and direct running. Photo: Steve Ellis
