A second goal in as many games from George Byers gave the Owls a 1-0 lead at the break before substitute Sylla Sow doubled their advantage in the final 10 minutes to help them secure their first away win in five – and third win on the bounce for the first time since August.
Darren Moore’s side are now within just three points of the top six.
Here are our player ratings after a solid afternoon’s work in Staffordshire.
5. Liam Palmer - 7
Steady, as usual, and never looked uncomfortable despite playing on the left of a back three. Nuff said. Photo: Steve Ellis
6. Sam Hutchinson - 8
The pick of wednesday's defenders. Showed good physicality to deal with Burton's attacking threat and produced the perfect blend of 'housery' and quality to keep the home strikers quiet. Photo: Steve Ellis
7. Marvin Johnson - 6
Able to get forward more as the game opened up and it was his pass that found Bannan for the second goal. Photo: Steve Ellis
8. George Byers - 7
Demonstrated his battling qualities in testing conditions and got his reward with a second goal in as many games. Showed good instincts for the finish after reacting first to the rebound. Perhaps got away with one after appearing to trip a Burton player in the box during the first half. Photo: Steve Ellis
