The Owls are thought to have prioritised finalising their managerial situation ahead of player recruitment at this point in time, whether that be hiring a new manager or giving Neil Thompson a bit more time to try and keep up their current turnaround in form.

Wednesday have been linked with the likes of Cardiff City’s Greg Cunningham (Football Insider), as well as talented Everton teenager, Jarrad Branthwaite (Daily Mail), while Leeds United duo of Tyler Roberts (Daily Mail) and Sam Greenwood.

Sky Sports have also put Wednesday in the list of clubs that have shown an interest in Tottenham Hotspur youngster, Jack Clarke.

Meanwhile, another player linked with the club is Armand Gnanduillet – however he is a free agent and therefore not bound by the transfer window.

Given the current climate, it’s unlikely that Wednesday will be splashing the cash this month, and it is thought that the club will be trying to bring in a new manager before focusing on new players, but they will still be monitoring the market.

Wednesday currently have Neil Thompson in charge after firing Tony Pulis, with the club working hard behind the scenes to steady the ship during a spell of two weeks where just one game – Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Exeter City – will be played.
