Kieran Lee, Lloyd Isgrove and Elias Kachunga are among the growing number of players to have played for both clubs – with Barry Bannan likely to feature on the blue and white side – but who makes the line-up in our team made up of men to have done just that?
There’s a classy midfield, a brutal strike force and a top manager to contend with. Take a look.
5. CB - Mark Beevers
Another popular figure round Wednesday parts, Beevers came through the ranks at S6 before making his debut in 2007, the first of 140 league appearances for the club. Sold onto Millwall in 2013, he has the rare distinction of playing over 100 games for three different league clubs having also done so at Bolton, where he spent three years from 2016 to 2019. Now closing in on making it four at Peterborough. Photo: Harry Trump
6. LB - Joey O'Brien
A Republic of Ireland international who enjoyed two loan spells with Wednesday from Bolton, first in 2004 and then in 2011, Joey O'Brien was known for his versatility which made him a great back-up option but reduced his pitch time with the Trotters. Made the move to West Ham shortly after his second Owls loan switch and now, at 35, plays at Shamrock Rovers. Photo: Ross Kinnaird
7. RM - Jermaine Johnson
A modern Wednesday icon who played over 250 times for the Owls, Johnson's first taste of English football came at Bolton in 2006 when he came over on a loan trial from Tivoli Gardens in Jamaica. He eventually wound up at Hillsborough in 2007 having caught the eye at Bradford City and spent seven years an Owl. Photo: Ross Kinnaird
8. CM - Kieran Lee
Another modern Wednesday favourite, Lee spent eight happy years with Wednesday and was a big part of their relative success under Carlos Carvalhal. A class act, he left in 2020 to eventually join Bolton and may well get a chance to wave goodbye to Owls fans when the Trotters arrive this weekend. Photo: Charlotte Tattersall
