Wednesday have a number of players that will be out of contract come July, but Urhoghide is one player who they’ve confirmed has been offered a new deal to stay at the club.

Urhoghide played 17 games in all competitions for the Owls in 2020/21 as he established himself as a first team player rather than just a talented youngster, however his performances have understandably piqued the interest of a number of other clubs, including the likes of Leeds United, Crystal Palace, Club Brugge and Sporting Clube de Portugal.

But the Star understands that Urhoghide is still open to remaining at Hillsborough despite interest from the Premier League, the Championship and also various leagues abroad, with his strong relationship with Moore potentially playing a factor in his eventual decision.

That decision, however, is not one that will be rushed into, with the 20-year-old eager to make sure that he properly assesses all of his options before making a decision on what lies ahead for him.

Wednesday’s drop into League One does offer him the chance to get plenty of senior minutes under his belt at a team where he already has healthy support from the fans, however he will also be aware of the fact that numerous teams in the past have languished in the third tier if things don’t go to plan.

It’s thought that Urhoghide will take as much time as he needs to weigh up everything available to him in the coming weeks as he draws closer to the expiration of his contract at the end of June, so it’s unsurprising that the club’s only update is that he’s in talks over a new deal.

Wednesday are looking to tie the youngster down in an attempt to finalise another member of what is currently a small squad for 2021/22, but the chances are that they’re going to have to be a bit patient with him in what is a critical time in his young career.
