Bullen’s side picked up their first win of the season as they saw off Cardiff City in Stocksbridge earlier today, and Huxley made a good first impression as he managed to score the winning goal.

Though he’s spent much of his young career as a defender, Huxley was started up top for the Owls, while another youngster hoping to land a contract, Okera Simmonds, was also handed a starting berth.

Wednesday are eager to look at options to bolster their U23s going forward following the promotion of several players into the first team, and Huxley will no doubt have done his chances no harm at all by handing the Owls their first three points of the campaign.

He was utilised out wide as well as up front by Bullen in the game, and his goal would suggest that the club will be keen to keep taking a closer look at the 19-year-old who has Wrexham listed as his last club.

Meanwhile, there were more minutes for Osaze Urhoghide as he continued his comeback from injury, and he’ll now be edging closer to getting himself back in contention for the Wednesday first team once again.

Next up for Bullen and his side is a trip to Ipswich Town next Tuesday as they seek to keep some momentum going and climb up the U23 Professional Development League table.
