The versatile 19-year-old has joined Paul Musacchio’s side, who play in the North East Women's Regional Football League Premier Division, from city rivals Sheffield FC along with goalkeeper Megan Parkin.

It’s the beginning of a new era for the club, with a new manager and support team appointed ahead of the 2021/22 season after long-serving boss Davie Higgins stepped down after 10 years in charge.

He will remain in his role as chairman, however.

"I’m really proud of her, it’s a great opportunity,” said four-time WSL-winner Millie.

Millie began playing football for Killamarsh Dynamos before moving on to Sheffield United’s academy and then into the professional game via Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The 27-year-old, who has been selected to represent Team GB at this summer’s Tokyo Olympics, likened Ella’s game to her own.

“She’s pretty similar to me. She’s played a little bit on the wings but I probably see her more as a centre midfielder or up top, she’s quite powerful and loves a challenge.

"She is literally like a mini version of myself.”

Speaking about her move, Ella said: "I'm really looking forward to getting started with the squad in pre-season and getting ready for the season ahead.

"After meeting the players and the new management I think this campaign is going to be really exciting and I am happy to be involved with such a great club.”
