New badge installed on Sheffield Wednesday stand ahead of Bradford City match - watch

Hillsborough has been given a facelift this summer...

Sheffield Wednesday’s new club badge has been installed on the outside of the South Stand.

The iconic Owl, which was the club’s former badge before it was replaced by now ex-owner Dejphon Chansiri, has been placed above the main reception area at Hillsborough. The new badge was also fitted to the outside of the Kop, again replacing the old design, although is different in material.

New owners Arise, led by David Storch, made it clear the retro Owl would be returning, a decision which has proved extremely popular. It features on the new kits, social media channels and club website.

Fans attending the first home league match of the season against Bradford City will notice these changes and several other alterations ranging from hospitality areas to the number of beer pumps.

Chief executive, David Bruce, said: “The look and feel will be very different, which is really important,” chief executive David Bruce said. “Obviously the new Owl is returning, the iconic mark from the past will be everywhere. There'll be a cleanliness to the operation. Some of the signage you might see in around the concourse will have changed. The delivery will definitely have changed.”

“Hopefully, fans will see a good lift on Thursday. But hopefully, as we get through to Christmas and even beyond, they'll be seeing things every week that they'll hopefully see different improvement.”
