The Owls find themselves in a remarkable run of form at present, with their impressive home form seeing them pick up five Championship wins on the bounce at Hillsborough for the first time since relegation from the Premier League.
Away from home, however, they have let things slip twice under Thompson, firstly against Coventry City and then most recently in their 4-1 hammering against Millwall after a second half collapse.

Hide Ad‘Thommo’ says that they had to look themselves in the mirror after that, and he’s been happy with their response.
“We had some, not harsh, but truthful words,” he told the media. “You have to look in the mirror and say that in the second half against Millwall we didn’t perform. We didn’t, and we got beat second half. But whatever they did between Saturday and Tuesday obviously worked.
“We have these conversations all the time, and when people reach a standard of play then we know that’s what they’re capable of. So that’s what you strive to achieve in every game.
“We know there are a lot of factors that can impact it. People might not be feeling well, they might be down on their energy that day, but you’ve got to strive to keep up that level of performance. Because when you do drop below it, there’s always a team out there trying to get the better of you.”
