‘Hutch’ left the Owls at the end of last season as a big chapter of his career came to a close following a tough spell in which he was frozen out by then manager, Garry Monk, but now he’s got a chance to make up for lost time after penning a new deal at Hillsborough.
The 31-year-old recently became a free agent after leaving Pafos FC in Cyprus, and Wednesday’s interest in bringing him back began while former manager, Tony Pulis, was still at the helm.

Hide AdIt was reported by The Star that the Owls were still looking at a potential return even after Pulis’ exit, and that the player was still keen. Now, after being confirmed as the club’s new number six on Monday, he says he’s delighted to be back.
He said in an interview with the club, “It’s unbelievable, really. I never thought I’d be back in this capacity. But I’m excited to go, and hopefully we can get to winning ways…
“I had unfinished business here. Regardless of whatever people thought about me - whether I’m a bad egg or not. Obviously I’m not, because the club’s brought me back.
“All I want to do is win games and be happy. I had some other options, but to be honest my son wanted me to come back here and I wanted to come back here because of what happened in the past.

Hutchinson underwent his first training session back with the Owls on Monday after putting pen to paper on a short-term deal until the end of the season (with an option to extend), and is now in contention for Wednesday night’s trip to Birmingham to face Coventry City at St. Andrews in the Championship.
