Wednesday returned from Luton with a 1-0 victory in an FA Cup third round replay last season courtesy of an Atdhe Nuhiu goal, their first win on the road against the Hatters since March 1989 when a David Hirst effort was good enough to secure all three points for Ron Atkinson’s side in the old Division One.
So, ahead of this evening’s clash against relegation-threatened Luton, we have taken a look back at the Owls side which last won at Kenilworth Road in a league game.
5. Nigel Pearson
Nottingham-born Pearson was the skipper when Wednesday won the League Cup and promotion back to the top flight in 1991. During the 1992–93 season, he missed out on the Owls' two Wembley finals after breaking his leg in the League Cup semi final against Blackburn Rovers. In total, Pearson made more than 200 appearances for the club. He also starred for Shrewsbury Town and Middlesbrough. He was appointed manager of Watford earlier this season and has also managed Southampton, Leicester City and Derby County and Hull City. Photo: ©Sheffield Newspapers Ltd
6. Nigel Worthington
Former Northern Ireland international defender and manager Worthington clocked up 338 appearances during a decade at Hillsborough between 1984 and 1994. In that time he won promotion to Division One in 1984 and 1991 and was part of the Wednesday side which won the League Cup in 1991. Worthington was also a member of the Wednesday squad which reached the League and FA Cup finals of 1993. He also appeared for Notts County, Leeds United, Stoke City and Blackpool. After his playing days ended, he went on to manage Blackpool, Norwich, Northern Ireland and York City. Photo: Sheffield Newspapers
7. Mark Proctor.
Proctor joined Wednesday for £275,000 from Sunderland in 1987 and spent two years at Hillsborough before returning to hometown club Middlesbrough, where he began his career in 1978. He also played for Nottingham Forest, Tranmere Rovers, South Shields and Hartlepool United. Proctor helped coach Boro's youngsters to the FA Youth Cup in 2004, before becoming their reserve team manager. He's also had caretaker manager spells at Hibernian, Livingston and Boro. Photo: RM

Injury dogged midfielder McCall's time at Hillsborough, where he made just 29 appearances between 1997 and 1992. He is best remembered for his time at Ipswich Town, clocking up 257 appearances between 1979 and 1987.
