It’s probably a small dose, if at all, but the old competition hits South Yorkshire today, with Sheffield Wednesday welcoming Plymouth Argyle to Hillsborough for a first round tie.

The priorities lie with promotion back to the Championship this season for the Owls but perhaps a run in the cup wouldn’t do any harm to build a bit of momentum after a sketchy season so far for Darren Moore’s men.

We have live updates throughout the day for the 12.15 kick off here on our live blog.

Sheffield Wednesday 0 Plymouth Argyle 0 - LIVE FA Cup updates

Wednesday just starting to crank the pressure up a little bit here. The final ball is letting them down on some occasions but they’re getting into decent positions nonetheless

Conor Grant lets fly with a well-struck effort that ends up in amongst the Plymouth fans in the Leppings Lane, Not a bad hit

Bannan with a shot...

It’s over. Decent break forward by Wednesday and Adeniran’s pass inside to Bannan is a little behind him so the effort goes well over but not a bad piece of attacking play at least

Owls shooting into the Kop, where there are erm... fewer people than normal

No changes for Wednesday for the start of the second half but you’d imagine they won’t be too far away. Plymouth are making one - Jordon Garrick is on for Ryan Hardie

Well it started off ok and it looked as though we might be getting an exciting match here in the cup but then it fizzled out and it’s all been a little bit rubbish since then. Both sides are effectively canceling each other out but there is a little worry that Plymouth a finding it easier to find a way past the Owls defence, even if it didn’t happen too often.

No replays please, lads

Ok, I’ll admit, it’s all bit drab now. Standing by that FA Cup magic, though
