The 26-year-old will see his contract at Hillsborough come to an end in just a few months when the 2020/21 season draws to a close, and there has been plenty of talk about what may lay ahead for the defender.
Van Aken has endured a difficult time with injuries during his first period with the Owls, but looked to be back on track this season after getting a very strong run of games under Garry Monk following a successful loan spell in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga.

It remains to be seen whether Van Aken will still be a Wednesday player come next season.
The Star is led to believe that clubs in the Netherlands, 2. Bundesliga, Turkey and Belgium – amongst others – have all shown an interest in signing the centre back, and he is able to pen a precontract outside of England at any point now after he entered into the last six months of his deal.
It is understood that the former SC Heerenveen man is keeping his options open for now, and would not be against remaining at Hillsborough, but that there’s certainly a possibility that he’s on the move come July.
