Our Wednesday writing team of Joe Crann and Alex Miller threw some names in the air to name their sides should Bannan miss out.

Joe Crann’s side

4-4-2/4-3-3: Wildsmith; Palmer, Börner, Lees, Iorfa; Pelupessy, Brown, Paterson; Harris, Reach; Windass

Joey Pelupessy could well step in for the absent Massimo Luongo as Sheffield Wednesday take on Norwich City this afternoon.Joey Pelupessy could well step in for the absent Massimo Luongo as Sheffield Wednesday take on Norwich City this afternoon.

For me, if Bannan isn’t fit then Brown has to be starting. He’s got some real creativity in his play, which SWFC lack when Bannan isn’t on the field.

I’d be sticking Windass up top with Paterson behind him, hopefully he can make some runs like the one for his last goal.

I’m thinking Palmer over JvA at left back purely because he’s got more pace than the Dutchman. And Iorfa needs to play, but neither Lees nor Börner deserves to be left out.

Alex Miller’s side

5-3-2: Wildsmith; Odubajo, Iorfa, Lees, Börner, Reach; Pelupessy, Brown, Paterson; Harris, Windass

This would be a bit of a switch-up, granted.

But with Bannan out of the side and Norwich set to welcome back the likes of Emi Buendia and Teemu Pukki, I’d be tempted to play three centre-halves in an attempt to crowd the Owls’ half and nullify their runners from midfield.

I’ve got Izzy Brown coming in for his first Pulis start to fill-in for Bannan’s creativity, the returning Josh Windass is a shoo-in up top and I’ve gone for Moses Odubajo on the right and Kadeem Harris pushed-in centrally to provide pace on the counter.
