Wednesday face off against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night on the back of a big win away at Cardiff City, so I had a go at selecting my XI as the Owls look to go three unbeaten for the first time this year.
5. LWB - Matt Penney
Like Van Aken, I reckon Penney needs a string of games together, and the quickfire nature of the current season means that he can get that. He was excellent v Walsall in the last round, and could do with more minutes in the tank. Photo: Steve Ellis
6. RWB - Liam Palmer
Palmer is an interesting player for Wednesday this season given his versatility. He missed the Walsall game due to international duty, and I think it could be an idea to give him a runout in the exact position where he played for Scotland – right wing back. I feel like Kadeem Harris will play a lot this season, so could do with a break. Photo: Steve Ellis
7. CM - Barry Bannan
Like Iorfa, Bannan is one that should be playing every time he’s fit and it’s feasible to use him without risk. Not only as captain, but also as a long-serving, highly creative player in the Wednesday setup. Photo: Steve Ellis
8. CM Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
Dele-Bashiru had a solid debut against the Saddlers, and I’d be tempted to start him in the Luongo role where he can use his physicality to break stuff up against a side that shouldn’t really be causing Wednesday too many problems in attack. Photo: Steve Ellis
