Sheffield Wednesday have made significant progress in the transfer market this summer but there is still lots of work to do.
Nine new players have come through the door and with just over three weeks until the first league game of the season, the squad is starting to take shape. But some positions are still light in numbers and as many as 10 more additions could be needed.
A lot can change between now and Leyton Orient away on August 15, but as it stands, is this Wednesday’s best possible line-up if the campaign was to start tomorrow? Let us know what you think in the comments section.

1. Joe Lumley - GK
The 31-year-old is currently the only senior goalkeeper on the books so he is in the driving seat as it stands but competition for places is likely to hot up in the coming weeks. | Steve Ellis

2. Liam Palmer - RB
The long-serving defender has been at the club since he was seven. Now aged 34 and 500 appearances later, he brings lots of experience, League One know-how, and has developed his leadership qualities. | Getty Images

3. Di'Shon Bernard - CB
The talented centre-back, 25, has not played since February 2025 because of a knee injury but he is well on the way to recovery now and is back in individual training. He was terrific in the Championship so he should have no problems in the third-tier - if fit. New signing Ricardo Santos should push him close. | Getty Images
4. Liam Cooper - CB
The left-sided centre-half was gutted to have missed the latter part of last season because of injury but he did enough to earn himself a new one-year deal. Not featured in pre-season yet but he should be a top defender at this level. | Steve Ellis.
