And as the top eight position themselves, as the top three continue to last each others' pace, there’s been no let-up for the sides desperate for promotion to the Championship this season.. we could be heading towards another record points total required.
But where do Sheffield Wednesday sit in the reckoning according to the stats? What about the pace-setting pair of Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle – and what about the likes of Derby County and Barnsley?
Who looks most likely for relegation?
The number crunchers and statistics experts at FiveThirtyEight have taken into account the quality of each squad, form guides and remaining fixtures to draw up their recmmendations on who will finish where on what number of points.
And it’s tight in several areas of the table - with a handful of spots separated by goal difference.
After the FA Cup pause, here’s how the data experts see League One finishing..

17. 9th - Shrewsbury Town - 66pts
Sliding well into the top half as per the algorithm are Shrewsbury, who are forecast to finish ninth, above Pompey by virtue of a single goal on goal difference. Plucky and front-foot, the Shrews have impressed plenty this season and are in incredible form having own their last five. A 7% shot at the play-offs is one thing - a 2% chance of promotion? They'd have taken all this at this stage. Photo: Steve Ellis

18. 8th - Peterborough United - 73pts
Grant McCann gone, Darren Ferguson brought in, players such as Jack Marriott (above) moved on, it's all go at Posh. The first of the real promotion contenders, things haven't really gone as they might like but they're still in with a chance of battling back into the top six - they're sat just three points shy at current. A 31% chance of play-off qualification is not to be sniffed at given a turbulent season - neither is a 9% chance of promotion. Photo: Charlotte Tattersall

19. 7th - Wycombe Wanderers - 76pts
A slow, slow start to the campaign was always likely to be overcome amid a shift in playing style and Gareth Ainsworth has done just that to launch yet another tilt at the top six. They've a 42% chance of achieving just that as per the data crunchers, with a 14% chance of a second promotion to the second tier. Photo: Andrew Redington

20. 6th - Barnsley - 78pts
A whopping 78 points would have you in the top two some seasons, but such is the competitiveness of this time out, it is set to have Barnsley finish only sixth. Michael Duff has earned huge plaudits for his role coming in to steady the ship at Oakwell and rightly so.
