Sheffield Wednesday is a silly football club full of madness and contradictions. A little soft in the underbelly? They won it, lost it and then won it late again. Unable to put away chances? They scored three. Playing the unbeaten top of the league title hopefuls? They took three points.
Performances have been building and luck not quite on their side in recent weeks. It felt as though a win was coming, though not many would have picked out West Bromwich Albion as the side to taste defeat. A 2-0 half-time lead was levelled-off late before Anthony Musaba capped off an eventful substitute cameo to take the win.
A satisfactory day out in the sunshine, then. Featuring plenty of high numbers, have yourself some player ratings from Sheffield Wednesday’s 3-2 win over West Brom.

5. Yan Valery - 7
Yellow'd for time wasting because the officials hadn't noticed an injury to James Beadle. Laugh or you'll cry. Otherwise strong in both directions. Largely kept Karlan Grant quiet save for one chance and robust going forward - perhaps gave the ball a way a touch more than he'd have liked. | UGC

6. Shea Charles - 8
Sleeves up, knees dirty. Did the donkey work and kept things moving. Can beat a man and is clever bringing the ball out. Calm and clever on the ball. Solid, savvy, well-controlled stuff. | Steve Ellis / UGC

7. Barry Bannan - 8
Slides balls down the left like he's playing school footy and did so marvellous for Marvin. Threw himself into his defensive duties and lead from the front - and then that assist for the winner? Cojones. | UGC

8. Marvin Johnson - 8
The new set-up has altered Wednesday's trajectory and so much of that has been down to Johnson down the left. With the help of a naught deflection, he bounded onto Bannan's through-ball and struck sweetly to open things up. Defensively tenacious and 'at it'. Pushed higher up later on. Off with 20 to go. | UGC
