It’s a thoroughly bizarre game, but in this season of all seasons, of course it was won with the very last touch of the ball.
Josh Windass’ diving header with seconds remaining capped an unbelievable few weeks for the club. All looked lost, all looked as if it would fall short.
Sheffield Wednesday are a Championship football team once more.
Drink it in.

Started brightly, putting in a couple of crosses of real danger to the Tykes. Jumped in and out of the game - Wednesday’s direct style may be effective but it doesn’t necessarily suit some of their flair players. He shot wide given half a yard on 63 minutes. BUT THAT MOMENT?!?! WEDNESDAY FOLKLORE!!! Photo: UGC/SWFC

Took up some good positions and produced some nice touches early doors. One first half collect and run was of real quality in a half of scraps. Was the man ‘done’ by Phillips in the big red card moment and then the assist? Lordy what a little bit of quality. Photo: UGC/SWFC

Worked tirelessly and found himself wrestling the Barnsley defence without masses of joy. Would have scored from close range in injury time were it not for Isted’s classy save. Photo: UGC

On for Paterson with Palmer pushed out wide. Seemed to provide better use of the ball, particularly in extra time. Thought he’d won it in extra time with a well-taken effort - though Hunt was ruled offside. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis
