How things are looking for Connor Wickham, Josh Windass, Jordan Rhodes and Sheffield Wednesday on transfer deadline day as the clock ticks down

The clock is ticking towards the 11 o’clock deadline for Sheffield Wednesday and their January transfer window so it’s time for a recap.

As we revealed late this afternoon, Connor Wickham is heading here for a medical with a view towards joining the Owls on loan from Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season.

This transfer has been the one Wednesday have been concentrating on for the past couple of weeks and now that it looks as though we rae heading for a done deal, attention will now move towards the next target.

This one is a little more complicated.

Wednesday want Josh Windass. Wigan want Jordan Rhodes. Sealing a deal that suits all parties is not proving easy at this stage.

There is still more than enough time for that deal to go through, or even any part of it for that matter. There is the potential that Windass could come to S6 without Rhodes going the other way and that indeed in the case the in reverse.

There’s a lot of talking still to be done and with some complications, it could be one that goes right to the wire.

Elsewhere, it’s not expected that any more players will be leaving, unless some crazy offer comes in for one of them in the next few hours. If we’re honest, that scenario is very unlikely to happen so it’s a case of ‘as you were’ on that score’.
