Matt Penney, who recently penned a one-year extension with the Owls that will keep him there until the end of the 2020/21 season, didn’t make Jos Luhukay’s matchday squad in the last two matchdays, and while that changed for their game VfL Bochum on Friday night, he still didn’t get any time on the field.
The 22-year-old was on the bench for the German 2. Bundesliga outfit, but was left unused by Luhukay as their four-game wait for a win continued with a 2- 0away defeat.

Hide AdJoost van Aken, meanwhile, faces an uncertain Wednesday future as he enters into the last 12 months of his current deal, and he once again missed out for VfL Osnabrück following a concussion that he sustained last month.
Van Aken hasn’t played since the 4-2 defeat to Hannover 96 on May 23rd, but will be hoping to get back out there for his side this coming Saturday when they host Bochum in another chance to move up the table.
Owls boss, Garry Monk, has confirmed that both players will finish the 2019/20 season in Germany prior to their return at the end of June, and while Penney will be back to try and force his way into SWFC’s plans, question marks remain over where Van Aken will be come the new season.
