The Owls conceded two unanswered goals in each half as their hosts ran riot, Wednesday trying out new things on the field as they sought to break lines against a side well versed in high-pressing - at Champions League level no less. With 11 subs made at half-time and plenty of miles in the legs, the 4-0 score line does not mean Wednesday will not have got plenty out of the battle against a side operating on a different level.
There was plenty of effort shown and some bright moments in Bavaria. Here are our player ratings from the Red Bull Arena.
17. Sean Fusire - 6
Showed willing, put in some running and made a lovely chance for himself, snaking back onto his left but failing to get a shot away quickly enough. | SWFC / UGC
18. Svante Ingelsson - 5
Did OK for periods but ultimately Salzburg were too good in midfield in both halves. | SWFC / UGC

19. Nathaniel Chalobah - 5
Touched it about nicely once or twice and put in a couple of breaks but got run over in midfield along with every other chuffer - the game was long gone by then and Wednesday were outclassed. | SWFC / UGC
20. Jamal Lowe - 7
Fed off scraps but made the most out of a couple of opportunities, darting into the box to get a shot away when he had no right to and laying off a nice touch or two. | SWFC / UGC
