Rhodes has struggled in front of goal during his time with the Owls by his standards, with his prodded finish against Cardiff City becoming his first goal of 2020 and only his fifth for Wednesday since the start of 2018.
Now, having been handed a new lease of life following the arrival of James Beattie, everyone involved with the club is hoping that SWFC’s record signing can kick on and add to his already impressive record in the English Football League.

Hide AdIorfa, who is the reigning Wednesday Player of the Year, is hoping that his goal against the Bluebirds is the first of many this season, admitting that nobody cares how they go in.
Speaking to the media over the weekend, Iorfa said, “We all know what Jordan can do… He’s had a tough spell since he’s been here, but the fact that he’s been able to get up and running at the start of the season, hopefully that’s a sign of good things to come.
“The goal was trademark Jordan Rhodes, a typical poacher goal, but any goal will do and we’re obviously all delighted for him.”
That finish at Cardiff City Stadium took his tally of Championship goals to 109 over the course of his career, a record only bettered by three players – David Nugent (121), Ross McCormack (120) and Billy Sharp (109) – and put him just 13 goals away from setting a new record.
