Darren Moore working on the way forward at Sheffield Wednesday

Moore, who it has now been confirmed will definitely be in charge of the Owls for their first season back in League One, has spoken previously of his determination to work in various aspects of the club, and it would appear that that also applies to the youth setup.

Wednesday confirmed on Wednesday morning which players within the U23 setup would be sticking around for the 2021/22 campaign, while also revealing the U18 starlets that have been given their first professional contracts at Middlewood Road.

The Star understands that Moore has played a role in the decisions that have been made, with the Owls boss having an input in the discussions alongside the likes of academy manager, Steve Haslam, and U23 boss, Lee Bullen.

It was revealed that players such as Liam Waldock, Ryan Galvin and Declan Thompson will definitely be around to try and build on their respective first team debuts in the season just gone, while teenagers like Alex Bonnington, Will Trueman and Paulo Aguas will get the opportunity to step up into the next stage of their careers.

It’s thought that Moore, who has been to watch the youngsters in action since arriving at Hillsborough, did play his part in the decisions that were made, and it’s likely that at least some of the aforementioned players will be part of his first preseason as manager of the club.
