The 27-year-old former Arsenal man scored 15 goals in 38 league games for the Addicks last season – despite only getting 11 starts – and is coming up to the end of his contract following the completion of the 2020/21 campaign.
But it’s now been revealed that his current club are not releasing the forward, with a statement today confirming that they are in talks and hope that he will stick around as Nigel Adkins builds for the season ahead.

Meanwhile, Thomas Sandgaard, the Charlton owner who is targeting promotion next season, told the club’s official website, “We have a number of players that are out of contract, a few of those we’ll try to see if we can negotiate for them to stay at the club. There were a couple of the loan players that we are also interested in to see if they can become permanent signings.
“Other than that, we are wide open on what we are looking at, whether it is loan players from Premier League clubs or positive permanent signings. We also have some great talent in the academy and we’ll continue to develop that and give those players a chance too.”
Wednesday’s retained list has not yet been released, however that is likely to change in the coming days.
