Garry Monk made four changes for the Bluebirds game after knocking Walsall out of the Carabao Cup earlier this month, and a similar turn of events are expected as the Wednesday manager looks to keep his squad fresh for what is set to be a testing season for the Owls.

Chey Dunkley and Osaze Urhoghide are on the road to recovery although not yet ready for action – Monk spoke of potential runouts with the U23s soon – but no fresh knocks were picked up in Wales and the SWFC boss does have an almost clean bill of health as he considers who to select at the Crown Oil Arena.

The Owls have only reach the third round of the Carabao Cup four times in the last 10 years (they were knocked out by Everton last time out) but will face either Ipswich Town or Fulham if they reach that stage this season.
