Sheffield Wednesday were back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, but the opposition manager thinks his side deserved a point and singled out on Owl in particular.

Barry Bannan once again scooped the Sky Sports Man of the Match award at Ashton Gate after dictating player from the centre of the park in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory, and Lee Johnson admits that they need a player like the Scotsman as they go forward.

Speaking to the media after the game, Johnson said, “I thought the shape was good, at times we lacked a bit of quality on the counter where we could have been better.

“We do need a Barry Bannan-type player, if you know what I mean. He’s very good at sort of orchestrating play, and that’s obviously what we hope to nurture Liam Walsh and Joe Morrell into that type of player.”

Meanwhile, regarding the end result, he added, “I’m just so upset for everyone, because we deserved something out of the game today. I don’t know whether you could see that from there, but it certainly felt to me that we deserved a point.

“This game is ruthless, and if you don’t do your jobs in the box then that’s going to happen at this level.”
