It has been a tough start to the campaign for Lee Bullen’s side after losing a number of key players to the first team, however he did get some big enhancements to his squad as they made the trip to Bristol City this week.

First and foremost, Wednesday picked up their second win of the season as they saw off City to move onto six points, and they’ll now be eager to try and start moving up the table in before the end of the year – starting with their game against Nottingham Forest on November 30th.

On top of the result, though, there was also a major boost for young Shaw as he got 45 minutes under his belt following his return from injury. The 19-year-old picked up a nasty ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers, and will be looking forward to getting back amongst things under the new manager – whoever that may be.

There was also a first league goal for Korede Adedoyin as he got off the mark following his move from Everton earlier in the year, and he’ll be delighted to get things going after a difficult start following an unlucky red card on his debut in September.

Meanwhile, the international break offered a chance for some of the other first teamers to get 90 minutes in their legs, with Osaze Urhoghide, Matt Penney, Alex Hunt and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru all playing the full game as they played their part in steering Wednesday to victory.

It was also worth noting that there were no trialists present this time around, with neither De'Marlio Brown-Sterling nor Kieran Cummings playing any part in the game after they both started the 1-0 defeat to Millwall.

Many young Owls got the chance to train with – and play for – the Wednesday first team under Garry Monk’s tenure at the club, and it remains to be seen if the same opportunity will be afforded to them under the next boss.
