Big decision made on exciting attacker Sheffield Wednesday have made enquiries on

A French football chief has made clear a player believed to be of interest to Sheffield Wednesday has been made available for transfer this summer.

The Star reported earlier this month that Karamoko Dembele was a name on the longlist of players Wednesday had scoped out as a potential target heading into what looks likely to be a busy summer of activity - and that contact had been made over his availability.

Dembele, 21, is a bright attacking player who hit headlines as a teenager in Scotland back in 2016 when he made his debut for Celtic’s under-20 side at the age of just 13. The five-foot-six flyer since signed for French club Brest and spent last season on loan in League One with Blackpool, where he kickstarted a promising young career by scoring eight times and assisting 13 times in 39 league outings.

That return has sparked interest from a host of clubs including Wednesday. Reports since have attributed admiring eyes to Everton, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Southampton, Leeds United, Derby County and Middlesbrough.

With Brest having qualiied for the Champions League in a remarkable run to third place finish in Ligue 1, Get French Football News (via L’Équipe) report the attacking midfielder does not have a future with the club. Brest sporting director Grégory Lorenzi appears to have confirmed in an interview that the 21-year-old would be one of four players to leave the club this summer - despite being contracted until 2026.

Reports suggest a permanent or loan switch is possible. It remains to be seen what moves are made by Wednesday in what looks set to be a fiercely competitive battle for his signature.
