Chey Dunkley’s debut season with the Owls has not quite gone as he’d have hoped, with injuries making it difficult for him to tie down a regular berth within the side, and now it’s been revealed that he’s unlikely to feature again this month.

The Owls drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town on Wednesday evening as their survival hopes were dented further by a 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town, while Birmingham City picked up three vital points to go nine points clear of SWFC.

Sheffield Wednesday’s worst enemy? Sheffield Wednesday…

Dunkley – who is yet to play under Moore – was once again missing from the squad.

Speaking after the game, the manager told the media, “Chey Dunkley has picked up a hamstring injury, so he’s going to be out for a little while… In terms of the level it’ll be more weeks for that one. He picked that one up in training, so it’s a disappointment for us. He’s with the medical team now, so he’ll get the treatment and we’ll try and get him back as soon as we possibly can.”

But despite any bad luck they might have had off the field, Moore is very much focused on trying to turn things around for the club, insisting that he won’t give up on survival until it’s no longer mathematically possible to stay up.

Speaking after the draw with Huddersfield, he said, “It’s going to be a tough 10 games, but we knew the size of the task when we came here, and one thing we will do is continue to work!

“The maths say that the points are still there, so because the maths says the points are still there, I will not look any other way than at the next game.

“We’ve got a real difficult game, and we look forward and prepare for that game in the best possible way.”

Wednesday face Barnsley this coming Saturday as they look to pick up their first win of Moore’s Owls reign against their local rivals at Oakwell.
