The Owls take on Forest at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon in a game that could see them relegated if they’re beaten – even a win might not be enough if results later that day go against them.

It remains to be seen whether the club’s manager, Darren Moore will be able to return in time to be on the sidelines for that game, however his assistant, Jamie Smith, did hint that he could potentially return to work in the latter part of this week as he remains on the mend following his battle with COVID-19.

The Forest game, which will take place during a country-wide social media blackout across football, will now be televised on Sky Sports.

A statement on the club’s official website read, “The Owls’ home game against Nottingham Forest this Saturday, 1 May, has been selected for live TV coverage by Sky Sports.

“Our penultimate fixture of the season was originally scheduled for a 3.00pm kick-off but will now get underway at 12.30pm.”

It means that Derby County and Rotherham United – the Owls’ relegation rivals – may know that Wednesday are out of the picture before they even kick off their games at 3pm later that afternoon, or – in Derby’s case for example – mean that they become aware in advance that a draw would be enough.

An Owls defeat would send them down, while a win or draw would mean all eyes on Derby to see how their game plays out and if it’s going to the final day or not.
