Eleven years on, what happened to the Blades’ squad from that fateful day at Wembley? Let’s take a look…
13. Leigh Bromby
Bromby made the move directly from Hillsborough to Bramall Lane, and won promotion to the Premier League with the Blades. Later had a second spell at United and is currently Huddersfield Town's 'head of football operations' Photo: Gareth Copley
14. Lee Hendrie
The former England international signed for United after leaving Aston Villa, but couldn't establish himself and was twice loaned out before leaving the Lane. He later played in non-league and suffered mental health issues, but is now working as a pundit and appeared on ITV’s three-part series Harry’s Heroes Photo: Steve Parkin
15. Arturo Lupoli
Made only 11 appearances for the Blades after joining on loan from Fiorentina, and did score in a Sheffield Derby against Wednesday. The Italy U21 international was last seen at Serie C side Virtus Verona Photo: STEVE PARKIN
16. Jamie Ward
Ward came off the bench in the 2009 play-off final, only to be sent off again by ref Mike Dean for two handballs. Left Scunthorpe in July but, at 34, still feels he has a lot to offer a club Photo: PA Wire
